Burger Junkyard @ Kota Damansara

One fine day, the bf and i decided to EAT ALL THE BURGERS! 

Hence the "The Burger Journey" label lol. 

First stop is Burger Junkyard!

Menu is not given, so you'll have to make your order at the counter. 2 sizes of burger are available to choose from: 90g or 180g (as shown in the picture). This is perfect for girls! Sometimes i really wanted to eat burgers but changed my mind because i know i couldn't finish it. 

Of course the price for 90g burger would be cheaper than the 180g.

Wifi is available here too.

My order: Brooklyn Burger (RM15.90) - 90g, Tomato, Lettuce, Egg, Pineapple, Ham, Chicken Thigh, Cheese. 

It wasn't bad. It's just too.. normal. It's the kind of burger you can find everywhere.

Oh ya. Utensils were not given too. So you'll have to chow them down with your bare hands. Luckily the bf didn't bring me here for our first date. If not he might be scared away with my barbaric barehand eating style. 

Bf's order: Texas Hold Me' (RM19.90) - 180g, Fried Onion Rings, Bacon, Beef Patty, Cheese, BBQ Sauce. 

This is a very meaty flavour burger and the bf loves it! 

Seat for the foreveralone. Now you don't have to dine alone!

It was good. I think i picked the wrong burger. Would definitely go back and try others.

Japanese Buffet @ Komura, Corus Hotel

So i've decided to write about Komura Japanese Buffet in an entire new post. Because i'm serious about Japanese food like that.

It was an ala carte buffet, meaning the food wasn't ready made and displayed. You will be given a menu and you can make unlimited orders from it.

The interior design was amazing! It was as if we've just stepped into Kyoto! 

The one thing that i absolutely love about Komura is their private rooms! You don't have to request for one as all their customers dine in private rooms, there is no open space like most restaurant do. 

One turn-off of a restaurant to me is often the inability to commute with your partners simply because the place was too crowded and noisy. So this is perfect for dates!

The menu wasn't impressive though. It contains basic stuff like: sashimi, sushi (temaki, maki), tempura, teppanyaki, noodle, desserts etc.

There was one section named "One Order Only" which includes unagi, scallop, soft shell carb etc. One person can only order once of all the 5 choices. So if there is 2 of you, you can only order 2 sets of unagi, 2 sets of scallop and so on.

In my opinion, the food choices wasn't luxurious enough. For sushi, your choices are sea cucumber, tuna, egg rolls etc only. I didn't order any of those.

We were very disappointed in the sashimi too. They were the reddish kind of sashimi, instead of the orange one. The freshness was similar to those in Sakae Sushi. 

Freshness of Sashimi can be divided into few levels for comparison purposes: 

Sushi Zanmai
Sakae Sushi
Sushi King

With the price we were paying, we were definitely expecting it to be at least Sushi Zanmai freshness.

Unagi, which was in the One Order Only list, served in a very small piece. Chopsticks for scale.

Fried Oyster. 2 pieces.

Teppanyaki Sirloin & Scallop. This was quite tasty.

Teppanyaki Salmon. Terrible! It was overcooked!

Green Tea ice cream and red bean paste. Normal lo.

Overall, what we did enjoy for the night was the privacy we had in the room, so we could spend hours talking over food. But the food was definitely not enjoyable.

I'm officially 23 years old now! 

Actually i'm not exactly big on birthday celebration, or any kind of celebration.
But birthday with a boyfriend means must celebrate la, how can i 放过 him just like that hmph.

When the clock struck 12, the bf came into the room with cake in his hands.

He sang me birthday song and I made wishes. Twice! Because i blew the candles out right after i made my wishes, so he has to rekindle it for the pictures. So i made another one.

The bf decided to make me breakfast since i didn't want to get up early. But he insisted i accompany him, so i watched One Piece in the kitchen lol.

Actually all i applied was a thin layer of 3ce foundation and eyebrows. But look how much different they made! 

I forgot how we ended up in Grand Hyatt because he told me he wanted to bring me to the orchid place in The Majestic Hotel the night before. The bf recalled the reason being it was near to Pavilion, and i was very hungry and said i wanted to try their Caramel Signature Cake (I loved caramel!). I totally forgot about the orchid place -.-

Can't stop making too much noise while moving the plates around. 
Never really like atas place like this.

We arrived at 5.30pm. We were informed that the hi-tea buffet was closing in 30 minutes but that was the only thing we can have. Ala carte order was not available until after 6.00pm. And we couldn't wait until after 6.00pm because we have dinner reservation elsewhere. 

 I asked Wayne to leave, since it did not worth it to pay for a buffet that was closing in 30 mins. But he said nevermind, let's just chill and enjoy the view, plus i can take ootd pictures here anyway lol.

The food wasn't great lo. Should have gone to the orchid place la.

The bf initially made a reservation at Iketeru in Hilton Hotel. I googled it and found out the price range is a bit too high. But I didn't want him to spend too much so i convinced him to go to another Japanese restaurant nearby - Komura at Corus Hotel.

It was one third of the price he was gonna pay but we were happy :) 

Because it has private rooms!!!

Haha.. now we can be our usual weird selves! 

Turned out the only thing we were happy about this restaurant is their private rooms. 
But nonetheless, we have a great time there. It was sort of our "confession room" lol.

And thus, two bloated tummies concluded my birthday in 2014. 

Dream Chaser

Stumbled upon this a few days back. 

So i asked myself, 
"If money were no object, what would i like to do?"

"Writing, reading and photography. "

They always have been my to-dos during me-time. 
(except sleeping and eating lol)  

I knew this. Before i started working, i promised myself i will not allow myself stuck in the rat race, waiting for my pay check every month to survive. 

But that's exactly what i have been doing now.

 Every month after finished paying all my commitments, i start counting how many days left till my next payday, and calculate how much i can use and save for that month. 

It is harder for us who work in a different state as our families. We have so much more extra commitments like rental room and car. Not to mention we have to pay each and every one of our meals and groceries. Petrol, tolls, phone bill. We don't come home with a table full of our favourite dishes, our cars don't magically have a full tank after our parents borrowed our cars, and we even have to spend extra few hundreds for the flights home. 

Though i think the first one or two years of rat race is unavoidable. Because after all, the most valuable thing you have when you first entered the society is your degree certificate. You need time to train yourself, know what exactly do you want and save up your startup funds. 

I don't even have the slightest idea on how to make my hobbies a full time job without starving myself. But i know i don't want my current lifestyle to last for another 2 years. I know i have to at least do something.

That's one of the reasons why i'm keeping this blog.

To keep myself writing.

Ah Leng Char Koay Teow @ Penang

The famous Ah Leng Char Koay Teow!

So famous you can find "Ah Leng Char Koay Teow" in Waze. It will shows you to Khoon Hiang Cafe on Jalan Dato Keramat, Georgetown. But it has actually moved to Restoran Tong Hooi, which locates at just opposite of Khoon Hiang Cafe.

Ordered roti bakar while waiting. Super like the way they cut the bread, make it so much easier to share. 

It was raining heavily on the day we went, so the restaurant was not too crowded. But still we have to wait for 20 mins for 5 plates of char koay teow. 

Closer view: 2 fresh big prawns. Everyone gets two. 

When you order, remember to ask them use duck egg, instead of chicken egg. It will cost you extra RM0.50. The portion is generally smaller (RM6.00) than usual, you can ask for 'extra' for a full size portion (RM10.50). 

This is the best char koay teow EVER! It's definitely omg-we-should-come-back good! 

And it was also the best dish we had throughout this Penang trip!

Wantan Mee @ Chulia Street, Penang

So after the somewhat sporty (at least it was sporty to me lol) evening we spent in Batu Ferringhi, we were all starved and took a friend's advice to Chulia Street for dinner. 

We went to Chulia street for its famous curry mee, but too bad it was closed that night because his helper was sick. 
(lol, this was what the neighbour stalls told me)

But the wantan mee is quite famous too. When we just reached, there were at least 20 people queuing.
 So we kiasu and queued along. 

You can see many foreigners there too. Since the seatings were scarce, this angmoh just stand at the side hastily finished his plate. 

Closer view: 2 wantan, few slices of char siew, chili. 

It was quite good la. But not mindblowning good, or omg-we-should-come-back good. Not too expensive too, though i can't recall the price. 

To be honest, the place was actually quite dirty :/ It should be expectable la since the stalls were on the street and they were basically street food. The trick is,  do not watch how the food is being prepared.
